Action Research Progress

My class began a few short weeks ago and during this time I have been conducting informal observations to determine how to best collect data to support my project. Many of my students from their CELDT testing this year were placed in beggining English classes. This should provide a large opportunity for my aciton research. That is it for now.

My ARP is researching ways to improve secondary science reading comprehension. I wonder if what you research plays a role at the high school level? Tell me more about what you plan to do?

Informal observations can lead to many interesting insights about our students. If I correctly recall, we basically start off simply observing and noticing the patterns that begin to emerge in our students' daily behavior patterns. I've not used them thus far, but now that I think about it, they could probably provide data to support my own research project. The CELDT is also a good resource since it can gauge where a student is in listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Good luck!
